HCYPBTKIRWO Chapter 20

As his colleagues looked at him in amazement, I saw a sandwich bite in Sir Daniel's hand.

Only after seeing with their own eyes that the Grand Duke's closest aide was eating without a doubt, they all put out their hands and took the lunch I brought.

“Then, I’ll eat well, thank you.”

"Ah yes."

"Thank you."

“It’s so delicious that I’m already worried about what to do if I can’t forget it, haha.”

It's a little disappointing, but not everyone seems to be a bad person.

The evil witch was so infamous that it's hard to believe in me.

Still, the people of the duchy were courteous, unlike the villagers who were rude.

'Someday the misunderstanding will be resolved.'

I also greeted the gardeners who even took off their straw hats and returned to the children.

The warm autumn sunlight poured down on the small table. The children sat quietly in their seats and ate their lunch.

It only happened because I said I wouldn't make a sandwich again if they weren’t still.

Their plump cheeks were like a hamster loaded with seeds.

Cute.

While watching the children, Sir Daniel asked with a questionable voice next to me.

"What's in it?"

You can see everything just by looking at the sandwich, so why ask?

“Ham, cheese, and eggs. Whatever was in the kitchen.”

Sir Daniel stared at the half-eaten sandwich for a while to see if his question could not be answered by my answer, and then put it in his mouth.

Behind the gardeners gathered, a whisper could be heard saying it was delicious. I started to be happy.

“Let’s also plant our mushrooms.”

Luna, who was looking around the garden while eating her sandwich, called out to me.

“Mushrooms cannot be planted in the field.”

Luca lifted the small tooth-marked sandwich high.

“That’s what I made in the kitchen.”

"Drink it."

"Thanks."

“Hey, is there a chestnut tree in the mansion?”

The gardener with a mouthful of sandwiches shook his head.

The land is so wide and there are no chestnut trees?

“Let’s ask my brother to plant a chestnut tree.”

"Great."

"Are there any leftovers?"

In the meantime, Sir Daniel, who had finished eating his sandwich, asked, pointing his eyes at the basket.

“Yes, eat.”

I stared intently at Sir Daniel eating his second sandwich. It must have been the strength in training and as a swordsmanship teacher.

Besides, why are you still standing next to me even after class is over? I know that falling in love with me isn't the reason for you to be like that.

Then there is only one possible reason...

Because you don't want to work with the Archduke, right?

Well, I wouldn't want to work with the duke either.

“It is not polite to stare at someone with such a piercing gaze.”

Sir Daniel frowned as if displeased.

"I'm curious."

"What are you curious about?"

“You must be busy, so can you follow me like this?”

His face showed displeasure.

"Thanks to someone."

“Hey, it would be nice if Sir Daniel could take care of the children together, but I might get scold by… Uh, duke?"

I couldn’t believe he would appear as soon as I said his name.

"Your highness, have you eaten? If you haven't, do you want to eat with us?"

The witch took something out of the basket and held it out toward Elliott.

‘I did.'

He was just on his way back from a luncheon at the Vatican for his last external schedule before going out tomorrow.

‘Yeah, I definitely ate...’

He didn't know what was in that witch's hand, but the urge to receive it immediately rose.

He thought she made it herself, so he wanted to take it, but the problem was that he already had a meal.

No, the witch doesn't know that.

But it was also funny to take it right away. Then, even if he pretends to receive it reluctantly...

"Weren’t you on your way home from outside after a luncheon?"

When Daniel intervened tactlessly, Elliott had to withdraw his hand that was about to be lifted.

"Then I'll eat it!"

In the end, Luna quickly took the only one left.

‘It was a sandwich.’

Why does that normal-looking sandwich seem to shine? It wasn't like this when he saw the high-quality dishes ambitiously prepared by the Pope.

Elliott's eyebrows suddenly crumpled as she looked at Luna with vain eyes eating the sandwich deliciously.

"Why are the children of the duke pretending to be farmers?"

Straw hats and work clothes that farmers' children would wear. That was not enough, so boots and work clothes were covered with dirt.

When he pointed it out, the witch responded without losing.

"You allowed me to decorate the garden."

"I allowed Miss Hazel to decorate the garden. Not my siblings."

"But His Highness and Her Highness..."

Luna laughed at the sudden honorifics.

"You eat vegetables that you grew yourself. Right?"

"Yes, that's right! The carrot that I carefully chose is refreshing."

They clapped their hands very well like it was planned. Elliott's eyes became sharp.

“And when you touch the soil like this, your immunity is strengthened, so you are less likely to catch colds and become stronger.”

The witch suddenly pretended to be a doctor.

"Well, will Dr. Morris say the same thing?"

Elliott turned firmly after saying that he would consult the doctor of the duchy to see if that was right.

The sandwich in Daniel's hand was snatched by his sleek hands.

"Oh, Your Excellency! That's mine..."

However, the sandwich thief had already walked out of the greenhouse.

They hated nap time the most, but both fell asleep even before nap time came.

They've been dozing off since they took a bath, and as soon as they laid in bed, they fell asleep quietly without time to even read a fairy tale.

"Did you have too much fun?"

I swept up Luca's forehead, who was asleep.

I tried to cover Luca's stomach thoroughly, but I thought the rabbit doll in his arm would suffocate, so I only covered his stomach.

Lulu was still dirty.

I told Luca to take a bath together, but Luca shook his head because he didn't like it.

Children who insist not to wash their attached dolls or blankets are common. Then, when you see it in the washing machine, you wail as if you had lost the world.

"Mom's smell was so bad."

"…Oh."

At that, I gave up washing the doll.

This can't be exchanged for anything in the world.

I don't know if the old doll still smelled like his mom. But that was not important.

For Luca, Lulu meant the last trace of his mother who he would never meet again.

Suddenly, my childhood memories came to mind.

When I was in the second grade of elementary school, my mom left the house. I couldn't eat any side dishes that my mom packed in the refrigerator like the last gift.

Then the side dishes eventually went bad. But I couldn't throw it away.

"That foolish thing. How funny.”

I cried for the first time only when my grandmother, who came to me after hearing the news late, hit my chest and threw away all the moldy side dishes.

It was only then that I realized that my mom really left me.

‘How much do you miss your mom?’

Even when I was an elementary school student, it was difficult to overcome my mother's absence.

I tried not to hate people, but I couldn't shake off the idea that the people who recklessly called the little demons of the duchy were too much without thinking about the pain of the children.

‘They’re angels. Just angels who lost their wings for a while.'

How did the children's parents die? The more I thought of the predecessors who left their young children behind, the more I felt sorry for them.

"This doesn't make sense."

He sat at his office desk to work, but Elliott couldn't hand over any documents and was only repeating the same thing.

The idea of ham, cheese, and the sandwich.

The bread smelled savory with butter, but the texture was soft and chewy. The egg, which was soft and fluffy like an omelet, and the combination of sweet and salty was excellent.

The rich flavor of cheese that melts well between warm ham and eggs still seemed to touch the tip of the tongue.

The thinly sliced pork ham was light because it was blanched in hot water. If that wasn’t done, the butter taste of cheese and bread would have made the sandwich greasy...

And what was the sweet and fresh sauce?

Elliott laughed out loud.

He felt pathetic thinking about sandwiches that he had already eaten without working.

He didn't have much appetite. His belief was that he eats well, but eats little.

Not only Luna and Luca, but also the people of the duchy were originally picky about their tastes. Adult Elliott just didn't show.

Harold was also a chef chosen by his parents, who were picky. Apart from being satisfied so far, he has never thought of Harold's cooking to the extent that it interferes with his work.

"Like the rumor said, did you put drugs in?"

Someone knocked on the door while he was muttering.
